PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's tennis team (14-4) opened its spring break week with a 4-3 win over Portland on Saturday morning. The match came down to the doubles point, which was won by the Bears, as the two teams split the six singles matches, 3-3.
The match started with doubles action, as Brown claimed the point with wins at #2 and #3. All three scores were 8-5 with the team of senior Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) and sophomore Jonathan Pearlman (New York, NY) winning at #2 and the team of sophomore Kendrick Au (St. John's, NF) and sophomore Charlie Posner (Cambridge, MA) winning at #3.
In singles action, the Bears dominated the matches they did win, taking all three in straight sets, and dropping just nine of 45 games played in those three matches. Pearlman won at #2 (6-1, 6-4), junior Nathaniel Gorham (Los Altos Hills, CA) won at #3 (6-1, 6-2) and senior Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) won at #4 (6-1, 6-0) to lead Brown to the win.
