MONTGOMERY, AL - The #53 Brown men's tennis team (13-4) dropped its second straight match, falling, 4-2, to #73 Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the Consolation round of the Blue/Gray Tennis Classic, held in Montgomery, AL.
Brown started the match by taking the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3. The team of junior Dan Hanegby (Herzliya, Israel) and sophomore Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) posted an 8-4 win at #2 to improve to 5-0 in doubles action. Junior Eric Thomas (Cincinnati, OH) and freshman Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) gave Brown the point with an 8-4 win at #3, as they improved to 6-0 in doubles play.
In singles action, Texas A&M CC went up 2-1 with wins at #1 and #2, as Hanegby and senior Phil Charm (Concord, MA) both fell to ranked opponents. Thomas and freshman Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY) both pushed their matches to three sets, at #3 and #4, respectively, but were not able to pull out a win.
Kohli was the sole winner in singles action for Brown, taking his match at #5, 6-3, 6-2.
The Bears continue action on Saturday, March 18th, when they face #33 South Alabama at 9:30 a.m. (CST).
