Bears Claim Third at ECAC Championship with 6-0 Win over Penn

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's tennis team (8-2) closed out the ECAC Championships with a third place finish, beating Penn, 6-0, on Monday morning. Only the singles matches were played and the Bears won all six matches to cruise to the win.

Senior Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) started things off with a victory at #4 singles, while sophomore Kendrick Au (St. John's, NF) put Brown up, 2-0, with a victory at #6. Senior Noah Gardner (Cambridge, MA), who was down, 3-0, in the second set, came from behind in his match at #5 singles to give Brown a 3-0 lead. That win was followed by a victory at #3 singles, where junior Nathaniel Gorham (Los Altos Hills, CA) clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win.

Rounding out the victories for Brown were wins by senior Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) at #2 (6-2, 7-6) and sophomore Jonathan Pearlman (New York, NY) at #1 (6-7, 6-3, ret).

The Bears return to action on Saturday, February 21, when they travel to Virginia Tech to face the Hokies at 2:00 p.m.
