#43 Bears Cruise Past Stony Brook, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, RI - The #43 Brown men's tennis team (7-2) cruised past Stony Brook, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon, February 12. The Bears were also scheduled to host URI, but that match was cancelled due to the snow storm that hit New England on Sunday.

Brown swept both singles and doubles, including winning four of the six singles matches in straight sets. In doubles action, senior Phil Charm (Concord, MA) and junior Dan Hanegby (Herzliva, Israel) led the way with an 8-5 win at #1. Junior Eric Thomas (Cincinnati, OH) and freshman Sam Garland (Bradenton, FL) earned an 8-3 win at #2, while sophomore Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) and freshman Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) posted an 8-3 win at #3.

In singles action, Thomas led off at #1 with a 7-5, 7-5 win, while Hanegby posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2. Charm was victorious at #3 for Brown, posting a 7-6 (8), 6-3 win, while freshman Basu Ratnam (Oyster Bay, NY) earned a 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 win at #4. Kohli came away with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #5, while senior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) concluded the sweep with a 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 (9) win at #6. In Tedaldi's match, he was down, 9-4, in the super breaker, before coming away with the 11-9 win.

The Bears continue action on Sunday, February 19th when they host Virginia Tech at 11:00 a.m.
