Adil burst through the Van Wickle Gates his freshman year and has amazed his teammates, caoches, and fans at every turn of his career. Adil's dynamic game style is one of the most exciting to watch in college tennis. Adil approaches his tennis with a professional mentality that not only raises his level, but everyone around him. Adil competes with an incredible amount of guts and heart that has become the benchmark for Brown Tennis.

Shamasdin capped a thrilling 2001/02 season with "The shot heard round the Ivies," which was a dramatic match-clinching as well as Ivy League Title winning defeat of Harvard's Will Lee 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Adil's other highlights from his freshman season included wins over Georgia's Nick Boeker, Fresno State's Greg Shearer, and North Carolina's Andy Metzler. In doubles, Shamasdin teamed Nick Goldberg '05 to win the Omni Hotel's Regional Doubles Championship. Adil and Nick advanced to the Omni National Championships where they were defeated by the 3rd seeded team of Andrew Columbo and Tiago Ruffoni from Auburn.

Adil began his sophomore season by reaching the finals of the Omni Hotels Regional Doubles Championship with partner Nick Goldberg '05. The sensational sophomore duo reached a season high of #26 in the country. For the year Adil compiled a singles record and a doubles record, which included a win over Wake Forest's Mike Murray to help lead the Bruno to a exciting 4-3 win over a Demon Deacon team that was ranked #17 at the time!

So far in 2003/04, Adil and doubles partner Jamie Cerretani '04 have reached an impressive season high ITA ranking of #7 in the country. A tandem that is considered by Brown Tennis historians to be the most prolific doubles team in school history dating back to Brown's 1st year of sponsoring men's tennis in 1926! Adil and Jamie's accomplishments continue to pile up this year which include capturing titles at the Harvard Fall Invitational, TheOmni Regional Championships, and winning two matches at the ITA National Indoor Championships Other significant singles results this season have included reaching the singles final of the Harvard Fall Invitational, reaching the Round of 16 at the Omni Regional Singles Championship, and knocking off Michigan's Brian Hung and Fresno State's Stephan Suta in dual match play.

Adil's junior career saw him finish ranked #5 in singles and #1 in doubles in Canada. He has three National titles and an ITF doubles title as well. Adil has also reached the quarterfinals in doubles of a futures event and posted a win over three-time national champion Peter Richman in the summer before he joined the Brown Bears.
