Zach has made an immediate impact on Brown tennis since he walked through the Van Wickle gates in the fall of 2002. He is a leader on the court and possesses a competitiveness that is contagious amongst his teammates. Look for Zach to make a huge mark on the future of Brown Tennis while he tries to serve his way into the Brown record books.

The N. Andover, MA native has put together an impressive resume since his arrival at Brown just a year and a half ago. During his freshman campaign Zach recorded a 26-7 singles record and a 18-5 doubles record with partner Kris Goddard '04. Highlights include cliniching a thrilling 4-3 win over Fresno State at the 2003 Blue/Gray tournament by defeating the Bulldog's Sergei Moduc 2-6, 6-4, 7-6. Other highlights include earning two big wins against Wake Forest's Trent Brendon. The first came on Frebruary 22, 2003 in an epic 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 come from behind win to contribute to the Brunos' 4-3 win over Wake. The second win against Brendon came in the first round of the NCAA tournament when Zach scored the Bear's third point which knotted the match score at 3-3 in an eventual 4-3 Bear's loss. Thus far in 2003/2004, Zach has reached the finals of the Northeast Intercollegiate Championships and the semi-finals of the 2003 Omni East Region Doubles Tournament with partner Kris Goddard '04. For their efforts the doubles tandem of Pasanen and Goddard have earned an ITA East Region ranking of #6.

Before his arrival at Brown, Zach was the top ranked New England junior for his age group over the last several years. In 2002, Zach attained a Boy's 18's ranking of #30 in the country, reaching the round of 16 at the International Grass Court Championships and the round of 32 at the USTA National Junior Championships in Kalamazoo, MI. Zach also teamed with Jamie Cerrertani '04 to win the 2002 USTA Men's National Grass Court Doubles Championship in Newport, RI.

Zach hails from the Groton School where he was a three-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic and Independent School League MVP. Zach competed at #1 singles and doubles for 4 years leading the Groton Zebra's to 3 ISL Championships (1st in 30 years) and the 1st New England Private School Division A Championship in Groton History.

Zach is ranked #2 in his house behind his Father and Brown Alum Wayne '67. Zach's brother Mark also attended Brown and graduated in 1985.
