Men’s Tennis Suffers 5-2 Setback at Penn State


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Brown men's tennis team's eight match win streak came to a close on Saturday at Penn State with a 5-2 defeat.

To start off the day, seniors Gregory Garcia (Poway, Calif.) and Lucas Da Silveira (Incline Village, Nev.) won their first doubles match, 6-3, but the Nittany Lions took the next two matches, both by a score of 6-3, to win the point.

Penn State picked up victories in the first two singles spots before junior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) recorded a win for the Bears in third doubles, with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 showing. The Nittany Lions also posted wins in fourth and fifth singles. Freshman Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) registered Brown's final singles win of the day in sixth singles, with a score of 7-5, 6-7 (1), 1-0 (7).

The Bears will return to action tomorrow (March 5) and start Ivy League play at Yale in a 2:00 p.m. match.
