Men's Tennis Drops Ivy Opener to Penn, 4-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men's tennis team opened up Ivy play with a hard fought 4-2 loss to Penn on Saturday at the Hamlin Tennis Courts.  The Bears fall to 10-7 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League play this season while Penn improves to 6-9 and a perfect 2-0 in league play.

Brown took an early 1-0 lead, grabbing the doubles point as the duos of Daniel Hirschberg/Gregory Garcia and Brandon Burke/Sam Fife edged their Penn counterparts by 8-5 decisions.

Lucas Da Silveira scored the lone Brown victory in the No. 6 slot, defeating Penn's Austin Kaplan by a score of 6-2, 7-6.  The Quakers took control of the match from that point on, claiming wins in the top four singles contests to cruise to their second Ivy League victory of the season.

Brown will return to action on Sunday as they battle Ivy foe, Princeton, at the Lenz Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
