Bears Fall to #49 Columbia, 5-2

NEW YORK, NY – The Brown men's tennis team (12-8, 1-2) dropped a 5-2 decision to #49 Columbia on Saturday afternoon in New York. The Lions won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 and then claimed four of the six singles matches to pick up the 5-2 victory.

In doubles action, Brown earned a win at #3, where junior Soufiane Azargui (Burlington, Ontario) combined with sophomore Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) for an 8-6 win.

Singles winners for Brown included junior Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY) at #4 (6-2, 6-2) and sophomore Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) at #6, 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (6).

Brown continues action Sunday afternoon when it faces Cornell in a 2:00 p.m. match in Ithaca.
