#51 Bears Edged by #24 Harvard, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown men's tennis team (16-7, 2-4), ranked #51 in the current ITA poll, was edged by 24th-ranked Harvard, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) led the Bears, winning at #5 singles and combining with junior Tom Deighton (London, England) for a 9-8 (5) win at #2 doubles.

Brown opened the match by winning the doubles point with victories at #2 and #3. In addition to the win at #2 by Deighton and Riechmann, sophomore Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY) and freshman William Spector (Weston, MA) picked up an 8-6 win at #3.

In singles action, sophomore Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) claimed a win at #2, 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-2, while Riechmann won at #5, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.

Brown will close out its 2012 season on Saturday, April 28th, when it hosts Yale in a 2:00 p.m. match.
