CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's tennis team (15-6, 2-4) claimed a 4-3 win over Harvard on Sunday afternoon, upsetting the 65th-ranked Crimson at the Murr Center Tennis Courts. The Crimson started the match by earning the doubles point with wins at #3 and #1. Brown's duo of senior Charlie Posner (Cambridge, MA) and freshman Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY) earned their fifth win of the Ivy season with an 8-4 victory at #2.
Trailing, 1-0, Brown quickly went to work in singles action, winning the first three matches off the courts to take a 3-1 lead. Freshman Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) tied the score at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at #3, while Fife gave Brown a 2-1 lead with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory at #2. A win by sophomore Tom Deighton (London, England) at the #5 position (6-3, 6-3) moved Brown one win away from taking the match.
