#74 Bears Sweep Quinnipiac, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown men's tennis team (9-2) posted a 7-0 sweep against Quinnipiac, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches, five of which were in straight sets. Several Bears won in both singles and doubles, including freshmen Soufiane Azargui (Burlington, ONT) and Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica), and sophomore Tom Deighton (London, England).

Brown opened the match with the doubles team of senior Charlie Posner (Cambridge, MA) and freshman Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY) earning an 8-1 win at #3 doubles. A win by Azargui and Burke at #1 (8-4) clinched the doubles point, while Deighton and senior Kendrick Au (St. John's, NF) also won, 8-6 at #2.

Azargui got Brown off to a fast start in singles action, winning 6-0, 6-0 at #4, while sophomore Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at #1 to give Brown a 3-0 lead. Burke clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the #2 position. Rounding out Brown's singles wins were Deighton at #3 (6-1, 4-6, 6-1), sophomore Timmy Klanke (Potomac, MD) at #5 (6-0, 6-2) and junior Andrew Yazmer (Simsbury, CT) at #6 (6-2, 6-0).

Brown continues action on March 19th when it hosts Binghamton in a 12:30 p.m. match.
