CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's tennis team (5-1), seeded fifth at the ECAC Championship, dropped its first match of the spring season, falling to fourth-seeded Harvard, 4-3, in the First Round Saturday afternoon. The Bears dropped a very close doubles point to the Crimson, which saw the top two matches go to a tie breaker. The match ultimately came down to the early doubles point, as the two teams split the singles matches, 3-3.
Sophomore Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) claimed a 7-6 (8), 6-1 win at #2 singles, while freshman Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY) earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the #3 position. Senior Kendrick Au (St. John's, New Foundland) rounded out the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #5 singles, as both Hill and Au remained undefeated on the season.
Brown continues action at the Tournament on Sunday afternoon when it faces 8th-seeded Columbia, which lost to top-seeded Cornell, 6-1, in the first round.
