CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's tennis team (6-1) rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 5-2 victory over #45 Columbia at the ECAC Indoor Championship. The Bears won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 and then claimed singles wins at #3-#6. Senior Kendrick Au (St. John's, New Foundland) remained undefeated on the spring season with a win at #4 singles, while freshman Soufiane Azargui (Burlington, ONT) won at #6 singles, as both also won in doubles action to go 2-0 on the day and help lead Brown.
Brown also got singles wins from freshman Sam Fife (Scarsfale, NY) at #3 (6-2, 6-3) and sophomore Timmy Klanke (Potomac, MD) at #5 (6-2, 3-6, 7-6). In doubles action Azargui combined with freshman Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) for a 8-6 win at #1, while Au teamed with sophomore Tom Deighton (London, England) for an 8-6 win at #2.
The Bears continue action this weekend when they travel to Virginia Tech for a pair of matches against Longwood (Saturday at 12:00) and the Hokies (Sunday at 12:00).
