Posner returned to Brown this fall as an upperclassman and got off to a hot start. Posner and teammate Au racked up a lot of experience as they captured the Northeast Intercollegiate Title and also advanced to the USTA Invite Doubles Final. Charlie also was a singles finalist at the Northeast Intercollegiate Invite. The great fall earned Charlie and Kendrick the #3 seed in the ITA Regional Tournament, and nearly counted themselves as another Bear regional champion team, losing a close 9-7 match in the final.
As a sophomore, Charlie picked up 26 wins and now stands as the team leader with 49 career doubles victories.
As a freshman, Posner made an impact for the Bears in both singles and doubles. After making the team as a walk-on, Posner entered the starting line-up during the semifinals of the ECAC Championships in the fall at #6 singles. Competing against a tough Columbia squad, he won the deciding match in a huge 4-3 win for Bruno! Posner went on to hone his singles skills and finished the year with eight singles wins.
On the doubles court, he has proven to be an important asset for the Bears. In his first year, he teamed up with Chris Lee '09 to go 4-2 at 3rd doubles in the Ivy League, and he picked up 18 doubles wins overall. After he and Lee beat the region's #1 ranked team from Harvard that fall, he teamed up with Jon Pearlman '10 and advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Regional tournament.
Posner comes to the Bears from Cambridge, Massachusetts and went to high school at Milton Academy. He played out of the infamous Weymouth Tennis Club and enjoyed a great junior career. Posner was ranked in the top 5 in the New England Section and was in the top 150 in the nation. He won back-to-back Boston Globe All-Scholastic Awards for tennis his junior and senior years of high school. At Brown, he is majoring in political science with a focus on American politics.
Charlie's hobbies include swim workouts and skateboarding. He has also been playing jazz piano for nine years. He always relishes a good discussion, whether it is about current events and politics or the latest electro-pop music.
Posner comes from a long line of Brown graduates, including both of his parents, Josh Posner and Eileen Rudden. He has two older brothers, Sam and Joe, who also graduated from Brown. His parents currently reside in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and his brothers live in Brooklyn, New York.
