|High School:||Riverdale Country School|
Miles Garrigues joins the Brown tennis team after graduating from Riverdale Country School in New York in 2009. Miles becomes part of a prestigious group of Brown Bears that have joined the team as a “walk-on” member. A 6’2” 160 pound right-hander, Garrigues ended his high school playing days as a First Team All-Conference selection and the Riverdale Country School Scholar Athlete of the Year. Other sports that he excelled in at Riverdale included lacrosse and baseball. His other hobbies include surfing, hiking, and foreign languages.
The most influential person in his life has been his father. “My dad raised me to be an athlete, playing a variety of sports, including baseball, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Even though he let me choose which sports to pursue, he taught me the work ethic, focus, and determination it would take to compete at a high level.”
Miles’s major reason to coming to Brown was the opportunity to attend an incredible academic school with a flexible curriculum and eclectic student body. Miles says he is motivated to challenge himself to improve in all aspects of his life, especially sports. He plans to major in Economics or International Relations.
Miles is the son of Mark and Lisa Garrigues. He has a sister Colette, who is currently a junior at Brown.
