2003-2004 Brown Men's Swimming and Diving Outlook

Nov. 17, 2003

Losing no competitors to graduation, the Men's swimming and diving team is returning eight letterwinners, and has welcomed five talented newcomers this season. Finishing 2-7 in dual meets last year, and finishing 8th at the EISL Championships the men's team was only 67 points away from a 5th place finish in the EISL.

The Bears return a solid nucleus this season with tri-captains, seniors Jefferson Moors, Brian Wood and junior Tim Wang. Moors finished Second Team All-Ivy in the 200 Freestyle last season and broke the record at Brown in the 200 freestyle in 2003. Wood holds the record at Brown in the 100 breast. Coach Peter Brown feels that with the leadership, experience and incoming freshmen, the team should make a solid improvement from last season.

Leading swimmers this year will include seniors Max Allen, who holds the record in the 200 butterfly, Moors, Wood, Wang and sophomore Eric Brumberg who earned Second Team All-Ivy honors in the 400 individual medley and holds the record at Brown in the 100 breaststroke. This year the Bears will only have one diver vs. three from last season. They are returning a strong relay team, which is an important component for success.

Coach Brown's goals this season is to have more people get bids to the NCAA's and to be successful in their conference.
