Several Men's Swimmers Post Olympic Trials Qualifying Times

PROVIDENCE, RI - Four Brown men's swimmers have posted Olympic Trial qualifying times and will be headed to upcoming Olympic Trials in their respective events. Seniors Brian Kelly (Weston, MA) and Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA), and junior Daniel Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) achieved Olympic Trials standards while competing in a long course Speedo Sectional Meet at the University of Maryland March 15-16. All three will compete for a spot on the US Olympic Team when they participate in the US Olympic Trials from June 29-July 6.

Kelly met the Olympic Trial time standards in both the 50 free (23.14) and the 100 free (51.51). Rickets also met the Olympic Trial time standards in two events, the 100 fly (55.56) and the 100 free (50.82). Volosin met the standard in the 400 free (3:59.83) and narrowly missed in the 1500 free by less than one second. Freshman Ryunosuke Kikuchi (Temecula, CA) also competed in the event in the 200 back, but missed the cut by less than 1.5 seconds.

In addition, junior Richard Alexander (Victoria, BC) has posted Canadian Olympic Trials qualifying times in both the 200 fly and 100 fly. He will compete for a spot on the Canadian Olympic Team in those two events from April 2-6.
