Men's Swimming & Diving Splits With Dartmouth (W, 126-117) and Navy (L, 153-89)

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Brown men's swimming and diving team opened the 2002-2003 season by defeating Dartmouth, 126-117, but falling to Navy, 153-89. The Bears were led by junior Jefferson Moors (Novi, MI), who took first place in both the 200 free (1:51.59) and the 200 back (2:03.64).

Freshman Eric Brumberg (Sewell, NJ) also swam well for the Bears as he won the 200 IM (2:07.17) and finished in third in the 200 breast (2:25.69).

The 400 medley relay team of sophomore Tim Wang (South Pasadena, CA), junior Brian Wood (Ridgefield, CT), sophomore Matt Zimmerman (Greensboro, NC), and junior Aron Gyuris (Thousand Oaks, CA) grabbed second place in a time of 3:57.93, while the 400 free relay team of Wang, Moors, Gyuris, and Zimmerman took second with a time of 3:30.00.

The Bears had a 1-3 finish in the 200 fly with sophomore Matt Del Mastro (Whitby, ONT) winning the event in a time of 2:08.69 and junior Max Allen (Casy, NC) taking third in a time of 2:10.45. Wang rounded out the top-three even finishers with a second place finish in the 100 free (:52.42).

In diving action, freshman Tim Warburton (Islip, NY) took fourth on the 1-Meter (211.55) and fifth on the 3-Meter (220.45).

The Bears continue action tomorrow, Sunday, November 24, when they swim Princeton in a 12:00 p.m. meet.
