Bears Finish in 7th at EISL Championships

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's swimming and diving team finished in 7th place at the 2005 EISL Championships with 689.5 points. Harvard won the Championship with 1460 points, while Princeton took second with 1363.5 points. Columbia was in third with 1040.5 points, Yale finished fourth with 872 points, Cornell was in fifth with 820 points, and Penn took sixth with 711.5 points. Navy (686) and Dartmouth (418) rounded out the field.

Freshman Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) began the day with a fifth place finish in the 1650 Free (15:48.18). Freshman Kevin Hug (Tampa, FL) was the Bears' top finisher in the 200 Back, posting 22nd place with a time of 1:54.58. Junior Brian Sharkey (Fords, NJ) earned 11th place in the 100 Free, posting a time of 45.71.

Senior Matt Del Mastro (Whitby, ONT) posted the Bears' best finish on the day, earning fourth place in the 200 Breast (2:04.73), while junior Eric Brumberg (Sewell, NJ) took fifth in the 200 Fly (1:49.59).

Sophomore Matthew Freitas (Chelmsford, MA) took 16th in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 364.75.

In the final event of the day, the 400 Free Relay, the team of Sharkey, senior Timothy Wang (South Pasadena, CA), Brumberg, and senior Matt Zimmerman (Greensboro, NC) took fifth with a time of 3:02.11.
