Bears in Sixth After Day 2 of EISL Championships

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown men's swimming and diving team is currently in sixth place at the 2005 EISL Championships with 507.5 points. Harvard leads the nine-team field with 949 points, followed by Princeton in second with 910 points. Columbia has 694.5, Yale has 583, Cornell has 571.5, and then Brown has 507.5. Penn (455.5), Navy (454), and Dartmouth (310) round out the field.

In the first event of the day, the team of senior Timothy Wang (South Pasadena, CA), senior Matthew Del Mastro (Whitby, ONT), senior Matt Zimmerman (Greensboro, NC), and junior Brian Sharkey (Fords, NJ) posted a fifth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:31.14.

Freshman Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) earned fifth in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:18.91, while junior Eric Brumberg (Sewell, NJ) posted a fourth place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 3:54.87.

Wang was Brown's top finisher in the 100 Fly, earning seventh place with a time of 49.80, while junior Matt Goracy (Pottersville, NJ) came in 12th in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.72.

Del Mastro led the way in the 100 Breast, earning fourth place with a time of 56.29, while Sharkey came in eighth in the 100 Back with a time of 51.11.

In the final event of the day, the team of Brumberg, Goracy, Wang, and sophomore Michael O'Mara (Reno, NV) came in eighth in the 800 Free Relay, with a time of 6:46.71.

The final day of action is tomorrow, Sunday, March 6, when the teams compete in the following events: 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 3M Diving, and 400 Free Relay. Prelims are at 11:00 a.m., with the finals beginning at 6:00 p.m.
