LONG ISLAND, NY - The Brown men's swimming & diving team is currently in 7th place after day 2 of the 2006 EISL Championships with 481 points. Princeton leads the field with 882 points, while Harvard is in second with 841. Cornell stands in third with 691 points, while Columbia is in fourth with 684. Yale stands in fifth with 606, while Navy is in seventh with 537. Penn (428) and Dartmouth (205) round out the nine-team field.
In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of senior Brian Sharkey (Fords, NJ), sophomore Grant Garcia (Mercer Island, WA), freshman Richard Alexander (Victoria, BC), and sophomore Brian Kelly (Weston, MA) took 8th with a time of 1:32.79.
Sophomore Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) took 8th in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:25.45, while senior Eric Brumberg (Sewell, NJ) earned Brown's top finish on the day, taking third in the 400 IM with a time of 3:55.08.
Alexander took 16th in the 100 Fly with a time of 50.89, while freshman Daniel Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) took 19th in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.41. Freshman Brett McCrae (Pepper Pike, OH) was 18th in the 100 Breast with a time of 58.61, while Sharkey was 6th in the 100 Back with a time of 50.56.
In the final event of the day, the 800 Free Relay team of Brumberg, Alexander, Ricketts, and senior Matt Goracy (Pottersville, NJ) took 6th with a time of 6:45.25.
The Bears conclude action at the Championships tomorrow, Saturday, March 4th.
