PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's swimming and diving team (3-7, 2-5) dropped its final dual meet of the season, falling to Cornell, 129-112 on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Swim Center. The Bears won six events on the day.
Freshman Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) earned a first place finish in the 1000 free, clocking in at 9:51.31, while classmate Rob Glenn (Haddonfield, NJ) earned a second place finish with a time of 10:00.99. Junior Eric Brumberg (Sewell, NJ) placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.37, while junior Brian Sharkey (Fords, NJ) won the 50 free with a time of 21.46.
Senior Timothy Wang (South Pasadena, CA) took first in the 100 free with a time of 46.38, while Brumberg took second in the 200 back with a time of 1:50.93. Volosin earned a second place finish in the 500 free, clocking in at 4:41.44, while senior Matt Del Mastro (Whitby, ONT) took third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:07.80.
In the final event of the afternoon, the Brown team of Sharkey, senior Matt Zimmerman (Greensboro, NC), Brumberg, and Wang won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:05.22.
In diving action, sophomore Matthew Freitas (Chelmsford, MA) won the 1-Meter with a score of 284.40, and took second in the 3-Meter with a score of 273.90.
The Bears continue action March 3-5 when they travel to Harvard for the EISL Championships.
