PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's swimming and diving team (2-4, 2-3) dropped a 179-116 decision to Harvard on Friday evening at the Smith Swim Center. Sophomore Richard Alexander (Victoria, BC), sophomore Daniel Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) and sophomore William Kai Robinson (Vashon, WA) each won one event for the Bears.

The Bears took third in the first event of the day, as the team of Rickets, junior Grant Garcia (Mercer Island, WA), freshman Zack Levko (Wildwood, MO), and freshman Paris Hays (Pacific Palisades, CA) swam a time of 1:52.42 in the 400 medley relay.

Junior Rob Glenn (Haddonfield, NJ) earned a time of 9:34.33 in the 1000 free, good for fourth. Alexander then earned the Bears' first win, swimming a time of 1:44.01 in the 200 free. Levko placed second in the 100 back with a time of 54.30, while freshman Ray Grant (Seekonk, MA) earned second in the 100 breast with a time of 59.65

Rickets won the second event for Brown, swimming a 1:54.34 in the 200 fly, while Glenn earned second in the event with a time of 1:57.50. Junior Kevin Hug (Tampa, FL) placed second in the 50 free with a time of 21.91, while sophomore David Koweek (Hudson, NY) was right behind him in third with a time of 22.26.

In the first diving event of the day, Robinson placed second on the 1-meter board, scoring a 305.77. Hays was Brown's top finisher in the 100 free, placing second with a time of 48.35, while senior Michael O'Mara (Reno, NV) placed second in the 200 back with a time of 1:58.70.

Garcia led Brown in the 200 breast, placing second with a time of 2:14.23, while junior Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) placed fourth in the 500 free as the Bears' top finisher with a time of 4:44.93. Levko placed fifth to lead Brown in the 100 fly, clocking in at 54.48.

In the final diving event of the afternoon, Robinson earned a score of 319.20, to win the event, while freshman CJ Kambe (Unionville, CT) placed second with a score of 310.50.

Sophomore Arkady Rasin (Brookline, MA) was Brown's best swimmer in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:21.36.

In the final event of the day, Brown's 200 IM team of freshman Tucker Wetmore (Weston, MA), Hug, junior Brian Kelly (Weston, MA), and freshman Trent Huxley (Bellevue, WA) placed first with a time of 1:25.19.

The Bears resume action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to New Haven, CT to face Yale.
