Men's Squash Preview
Sept. 2, 2004
Providence, RI - The Brown men's squash team is eagerly anticipating its season on the Pizzitola Center Squash Courts. With the graduation of just one player from last year's squad that placed 13th at the Hoehn Cup, and an increase in the squad's size, coach Stuart leGassick feels that there is a lot of potential for success. The Bears will be led by senior captain Jay Beidler and junior captain Breck Bailey, who are each coming off standout seasons. Sean O'Boyle , Gavin Watson and Justin Wong round out a strong senior class. The sophomore class will be led by Dan Petrie, who had a tremendous National Collegiate Individual championships at St. Lawrence as a Freshman, along with Patrick Haynes, Aaron Rosenthal and Mark Goldberg. Joining Bailey in the junior Class is Dave Krupnick , Brian Rifkin and Jeff Karlson , whose experience will be invaluable to the team. The upperclassmen will be backed up by a strong young group of newcomers who will include top freshmen recruits Ed Cerullo from Brooklyn NY (whose twin sister, Megan, is a member of the Women's Squash team at Brown), and North Whipple from Lake Forest IL, a protégé of Teaching Pro Aidan Harris. The Bears will launch their season at the Ivy Scrimmages at Yale on the weekend of Nov. 13/14th.
