The Men's squash Team traveled to Princeton and Penn over the snowy weekend of December 6/7, losing tough matches with the Tigers and Quakers.
After a 9 1/2 hour journey to Princeton the Bears competed bravely against a very strong Tiger squad and although the Brown team lost, 9-0, there were numerous individual efforts which showed the potential of the Brown team.
At #1, Co- Captain Brad Corona battled bravely against Egyptian phenom and Intercollegiate Champion Yasser El Halaby. At #6, Patrick Haynes '07 battled bravely with P Sutton, and Co-Captain Jay Beidler almost captured a win at #7, but fell after a marathon match 9-7 in the fifth.
Just 24 hours later at the Ringe Courts at Penn, the men succumbed, 8-1, with sophomore Breck Bailey playing magnificently to win 3-0 at #3. Freshman Dan Petrie, younger brother of former Squash Women's Squash Captain Sarah '03, played well at #2 and after being 0-2 down came back to 6 all in the fourth but fell 3-1 to Ben Ende.
The other epic of the afternoon was with Brian Rifkin who was able to go to five with S. Klaiman at #9 in an exhausting match.
The Bears are next in action at the Five- Man Team Championships at Yale January 9-11.
