Canton NY - Two men and three women ventured north to St. Lawrence University and the NISRA Individual Championship, where the Head Coach and Brown Squash Alumnus, Vijay Chitnis '94 had organized a superb event. Chitnis, as the Head Coach at St. Lawrence had even brought in the ASB glass exhibition court which days earlier had hosted the TOC in New York City at Grand Central Station.
The star performer for the Brown team was freshman Dan Petrie who battled past the #2 seed in the Malloy division on Saturday morning in five games, and as the tournament finalist, equaled Austin Clark's '02 exploits at the 2002 Nationals.
Petrie's opponent in the final was Jacques Swanipoel of Trinity to whom he lost 9-2,9-5 9-1. Petrie played outstanding squash the whole weekend and won praise for his athleticism and sportsmanship throughout the weekend.
Breck Bailey'06 also competed well and is looking forward to the next season with optimism.
