Feb. 15, 2005
Hanover, NH - The Men's Squash team suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Dartmouth team in Hanover on Sunday. The Men lost 5-4 in a tense contest at Hanover -the outcome of which sent the winners to the top Eight in the country and placed the Bears as the #1 seeds for the Hoehn Cup at the Nationals at Harvard during the weekend of February 26/27.
Winners for the Bears included David Krupnick '06 at #5 in the match of the day. David won the final two games, 10-8, 10-8, and was 8-6 down in the fifth, saving 3 match balls before pulling out the victory.
At #7 Co-Captain Jay Beidler '05 pulled out yet another victory for the Bears in five despite playing with a stomach upset. It was a very typical Beidler battle. At # 8 Brian Rifkin '06 won in four, and Patrick Haynes '07 at #9 won his second straight match against Ivy opponents winning comfortably in three. Another match worthy of note was Freshman Ed Cerullo at #3 who is proving to be a quick learner and strong competitor who lost in five giving a creditable performance against an experienced opponent.
The Bears will now shape up again and aim at the Team Nationals at Harvard on Friday 25th February and attempt to regain the Hoehn Cup.
