Amherst, Mass. - The 13th ranked men's squash team held off a spirited fight by the 14th ranked Amherst squad and came out 6-3 winners. The team went 1-3 down after the first set of matches and then won all five remaining matches.
The Bears earned wins at the top three spots in the lineup against Amherst. Sophomore Dan Petrie (Cincinnati, OH) earned a 9-2, 9-6, 9-3 victory at number one, followed by junior Breck Bailey (Greenwich, CT), a 9-2, 9-=0, 9-2 winner at number two, and freshman Ed Cerullo (Brooklyn, NY), a five game winner at number three.
Junior David Krupnick (Philadelphia, PA) was a five game winner for the Bears at number five against Amherst.
Brown also got individual victories against the Lord Jeffs from senior Jay Beidler (Lake Forest, IL), a three-game winner at number seven, and junior Brian Rifkin (Brooklyn, NY), a three-game winner at the ninth position.
