Providence, R.I. - The Brown men's squash team wrapped up its season with the annual Squash Team Banquet at the Faculty Club in Providence, R.I. with the announcement of team awards, the naming of captains for the 2018-19 season and the announcement of the incoming Class of 2022.
There were several awards received, including the Best Record at the Team Nationals which went to both Blake Gilbert-Bono '20 and William Glaser '21, who at this year's team championships won their three matches against Drexel, Yale and Western Ontario.
The team and coaches also recognized five players who received the CSA Scholar Athlete Awards that are awarded to those student-athletes that have played in 50% or more of the matches and have a 3.5 GPA or better. Earning CSA Scholar-Athlete Awards were tri-captains Charlie Blasberg '18, Thomas Blecher '18 and Thomas Walker '18, along with Palak Goel '19 and Philip Demeulenaere '19. In addition, Blecher was a Winter Academic All-Ivy Award recipient.
The Brown team thanked the senior tri-captains Thomas Blecher, Thomas Walker and Charles Blasberg for their leadership, commitment and efforts on and off the squash courts over their careers at Brown.
Coach Stuart leGassick's squad looks forward to the arrival of the freshmen in the fall: Jacob Good from Shaker Heights H.S, Shaker Heights, Ohio; Liam Bai from Tabor Academy by way of China; Declan McCarthy from Episcopal Academy, Philadelphia, PA; and Grant Sterman from Haverford High School, Haverford, Philadelphia.
