Providence, R.I.- The Men's Squash team had a grueling weekend of action at the Pizzitola Sports Center on the 6th and 7th of December, defeating Northeastern, 9-0, but falling to Western Ontario, 9-0, Drexel, 5-4 and Wesleyan, 5-4.
The two days of play culminated in a tremendous match against Wesleyan late on Saturday evening with the Wesleyan squad ultimately winning by one match. With the scores tied, 4-4, and the final match on court - playing to a raucous and enthusiastic crowd, who enthralled with the unfolding story.
Senior co-captain Blake Reinson at #1 was battling for the fifth match to clinch the team win. At 2-2 in the match and 11-11 in the fifth, the last two points ended up going to Wesleyan. The Bears got wins from sophomore #3 Oliver Booth, freshman #4 Hoony Lee and freshman #5 Alex Baldock. Also winning at #7 was sophomore Foster Hoff.
24 hours earlier the Bears had competed well against the Western Ontario squad. On Saturday morning the team had another tremendous match against Drexel ultimately losing, 4-5. This match did not have the same suspenseful ending as the Wesleyan match, but the team battled hard with wins from #1 senior Blake Reinson, #4 freshman Hoony Lee, #5 freshman Alex Baldock and #7 Sophomore Foster Hoff.
The Bears now wait until January 11th for the next match against Columbia after their exams and a short winter break.
