Britner and Sheehan Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
Nov. 2, 2007
Providence, RI - Brown junior Dylan Sheehan (Wolfville, NS) has been named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All District in men's soccer and senior co-captain Matt Britner (Halifax, NS) has been named to the Second Team. The team is selected by voting members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A Commerce, Organizations & Entrepreneurship concentrator with a 3.62 GPA, Sheehan has played and started in all of Brown's 14 games this season. He leads the team in scoring with eight goals and six assists for 22 points, and has scored three game-winning goals. Sheehan was named the Ivy League's Player of the Week on Sept. 10, was the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic Offensive MVP, and was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Oct. 14.
Britner, a double-concentrator in Economics and History with a 3.25 GPA, has been anchoring Brown's defense for three seasons. This year, Brown's defense has allowed just 12 goals in 14 games, and has posted five shutouts. Despite missing the entire 2004 and 2006 seasons due to injuries, he started in all 18 games in 2005 as a co-captain and was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy and First Team All-New England selection. Britner was the Defensive MVP of the 2005 adidas-Brown Classic, and was Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2003.
Currently in first place in the Ivy League with a 4-0-0 record, Brown returns to action this weekend when it travels to New Haven to face the Yale Bulldogs. Kick-off is at 4:30 p.m.
