Providence, RI - After being named the Ivy League Player of the Week, Brown junior co-captain Matt Britner has also been named the ECAC Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bears' 2-1 overtime win over Cornell last Saturday. Britner scored the golden goal 5:35 into the first overtime, improving Brown's Ivy record to 4-0. The team jumped to #18 on this week's NSCAA Division I Poll on the strength of a seven game unbeaten streak. The Bears have not lost since Sept. 23, going 6-0-1 since then.
Britner has anchored the Brown defense to six shutouts and a league-leading 0.62 goals against average this season after missing all of last year with an injury.
The Bears will host Penn on Saturday at Stevenson Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The team will then play at Yale on Nov. 5 before closing out the season at home against Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 12. Currently, Brown is three points ahead of the Big Green in the Ivy standings.
