Sheehan earns Ivy League Player of the Week

Oct. 9, 2006

Providence, RI - Brown sophomore forward Dylan Sheehan (Wolfville, NS) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week (10/9/06) after scoring two goals in two victories last week.

To begin the week, Sheehan was the spark the No. 21 Brown men's soccer team (8-1-1, 2-0-1) needed while facing a tough non-league opponent, Boston College last Tuesday evening. Sheehan scored in the 60th minute of play to snap a 1-1 tie to lead the Bears to a 2-1 victory.

Against Princeton on Saturday, the Bears found themselves down 1-0 with 9:40 remaining in regulation when Sheehan tapped in a goal past the Tiger's goalkeeper to keep the Bears in the game. It wasn't until Brown sophomore defender Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) headed the ball into the net with 3:42 left in the first overtime to give Brown a 2-1 victory.

Sheehan is third on Brown's team in goals scored as he picked up his third of the season this week. He also has two assists and eight points as the Bears head into Tuesday's 3 p.m. competition against the Friars at Providence College. They will then host Harvard at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Stevenson Field.
