Providence, RI - Senior defender Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) has been named the Ivy League's Player of the Week, as well as the Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Player of the Week after scoring a pair of game-winning goal en route to two Brown victories over No. 13 Boston College and UNC Greensboro.
Bernstein, a Missouri Athletic Conference Hermann Trophy Watch List selection, scored his first goal of the week in the 47th minute of play against #13 Boston College last Tuesday night to lead Bruno to a 1-0 victory. He kept up his stellar play when the team traveled to North Carolina to take on UNC Greensboro. Just 16 minutes into the game, Bernstein headed one in from eight yards out to help Bruno to a 3-0 victory and improve its record to 5-2-1 on the season.
Bernstein has now tallied his third consecutive goal (all game-winners), as he leads the team in points with seven (3 goals, 1 assist). Brown is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when it takes on Columbia for its for Ivy League contest of the 2008 season. Kick-off is schedule for 4:00 p.m., and will be at Stevenson Field.
