Providence, RI - After scoring four goals in two games en route to an Adidas San Diego Classic championship over the weekend, Brown men's soccer senior forward Kevin Davies (Port Washington, NY) has been named the Ivy League's Player of the Week.
Davies guided the Bears to a 3-2 victory over the University of San Diego on Friday by scoring two goals during the first half of the game. His first goal was a header off an assist by junior Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) at the 32:19 mark, and the second came four minutes later off an assist from sophomore Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA).
Davies did it again on Sunday's game against UC Irvine, scoring two goals in the second half to give Brown a 2-0 lead over the Anteaters on assists by Elenz-Martin and junior Dylan Sheehan (Wolfville, NS). UC Irvine then scored two quick goals on penalty kicks to tie the game and forced it into a double overtime draw.
Davies is now second on the team in scoring with 13 points on six goals and one assist, and the Bears are now 6-0-1 on the season. Brown is just one of six unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I. Brown is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 against Boston University, Ivy League opponent Princeton on Oct. 6, and Oct. 10 against Boston College. All are at Stevenson Field and begin at 7:00 p.m.
