New Haven, CT - Sophomores Jeff Larentowicz, Christopher Gomez and freshman Ibrahim Diane were all named to the Yale Classic's All-Tournament Team on Sunday. The Bears captured the tournament title, going 2-0 against Alabama A&M and Vanderbilt.
Brown defeated Alabama A&M by a score of 3-1. In his first action of the season, Gomez made five saves in net for the Bears, including a crucial save with nine minutes remaining in the first half that prevented Alabama from tying the game. Larentowicz and Gomez helped keep Alabama scoreless for the first 75 minutes of the game.
The Bears cruised to a 5-1 victory over Vanderbilt on Sunday. Diane recorded one goal and two assists for four points on the day. For the first assist of his collegiate career, Diane served the ball to tournament MVP Adom Crew on the far post for the Bears third goal of the day.
Diane recorded his second assist of the day on the Bears next goal, feeding the ball to junior Seth Quidachay-Swan from six yards out. Diane dribbled past Vanderbilt's goalie for a wide-open goal in the 82nd minute of the game. Larentowicz and Gomez combined to keep Vanderbilt scoreless for the last 70 minutes of the game, allowing the Bears to score five unanswered goals. Gomez recorded two saves on the day.
