Providence, RI - After two great wins against No. 5 Santa Clara and Fordham this weekend during the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic, both Dylan Sheehan (Wolfville, NS) and David Walls (Yorkshire, UK) earned Ivy League accolades. Sheehan was named the League's Player of the Week, while Walls earned Rookie of the Week.
Over the weekend, Sheehan helped his team with the addias-Brown Soccer Classic and was honored with the tournament's Offensive MVP. After trailing 1-0 to Santa Clara heading into the half, the junior forward got the offense on track by providing a goal just after the re-start and assisted on a second goal to put the Bears ahead for good, 2-1. In the final game of the Classic, the Bears defeated the Fordham Rams 3-1 as Sheehan opened the scoring. On the weekend, he had two vital goals and an assist to pace the 2-0-0 Bears.
Freshman midfielder Walls shook off any potential pre-game jitters in his first collegiate match - squaring off against highly touted Santa Clara. Walls looked like a seasoned veteran in the midfield, tallying his first-career assist on Sheehan's goal to tie the game and control much of the play as the Bears held off the Broncos, 2-1. Walls was selected to the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team.
Also receiving recognition after the weekend was junior Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA). Bernstein was a College Soccer News National Team of the Week selection after anchoring Brown's defense that secured wins over Santa Clara and Fordham.
