Aug. 19, 2008
Providence, RI - Men's soccer senior defender Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) has been included on the 48-member Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy watch list, as released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Bernstein, a two-time First Team All-Ivy selection, played an integral role in Brown's defensive trifecta last year. Bernstein helped guide the Bears to a 15-2-1 overall record, and a 7-0-0 mark in Ivy League play to earn its 19th Ancient Eight title. He was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (Sept. 9), and Soccer America's Men's Team of the Week (9/13), while also being named the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic's Defensive MVP.
Considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer, the recipient of the MAC's Hermann Trophy are selected by Division I head coaches who are current members of the NSCAA. A list of 15 semifinalists is selected by a coaches committee in November, with three finalists announced in early December.
