Providence, RI- Brown men's soccer coach Mike Noonan has released his team's 2007 schedule, with the Bears opening their season on Sept. 7 at home, during the adidas-Brown Classic.
Brown, who posted an 11-5-3 record last year, 3-2-2 Ivy League, returns 19 experienced players from last year's squad that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With the return of first team All-Ivy selection, junior Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA), and seven talented newcomers who will be serious contributors on the field this season, the Bears will be one of the teams competing for the conference title.
The Bears' challenging schedule begins when they host the ninth adidas-Brown Classic at Stevenson Field on Sept. 7 and Sept. 9. Teams participating are preseason No. 5 ranked Santa Clara, Boston University and Fordham. Kickoff for the Bears is Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. against Santa Clara, and will wrap-up the tournament when they play Fordham on Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m.
Brown will then host three more home games when they match-up against the University of Maine at 3 p.m. on Sept. 13, the University of Rhode Island on Sept. 16, and then take on St. Francis at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 before heading to California for a tournament.
At the University of San Diego Tournament, the Bears will challenge USD at 10 p.m. ET on Sept. 21, and then match-up against California Irvine at 3 p.m. ET on Sept. 23. Brown returns home on Oct. 2 to play Boston University, and will open up Ivy League play at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 against the Princeton Tigers.
Their next Ivy League opponent will be against 2006 League champions, Harvard (10/13), and then Cornell (10/20). The Bears come back home to take on UPenn (10/27) and will be on the road to play both Rutgers (10/31) and Yale (Nov. 3).
The Bears' will have its final home game on Nov. 10 at 4:00 p.m. against Dartmouth, and will end regular season play at Columbia on Nov. 17.
