Laurent Manuel Selected to Play for New York Red Bulls

Providence, RI - Brown men's soccer defender Laurent Manuel (New York, NY) was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft to play for the New York Red Bulls.

During his senior season, Manuel competed in 13 games to help lead Brown to its 19th Ivy League title and its 23 NCAA Appearance. In his collegiate career, he played in 63 games, scored two goals and had four assists for eight points. This past season, Manuel tallied his first two goals of his career, while also picking up two assists.

A total of 51 players were selected in the four-round draft, which was held via teleconference from the League headquarters. All players who met draft eligibility requirements that were not selected in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft - which was held on Friday, Jan. 18 - and additional players nominated by teams were eligible for selection in the Supplemental Draft.
