Providence, RI - Freshman goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) was recently named to the College Soccer News' First Team All-Freshman squad. Grandstrand helped lead the Bears to a 15-2-1 overall record, an Ivy League Championship, and their 23rd NCAA appearance. The sixth-seeded Bears received a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament, but lost 2-1 in overtime to Old Dominion in the second round.

Grandstand had a stellar year in the net for the Bears, earning a 10-1-1 record including five shutouts. He allowed just 10 goals and picked up 43 saves in his 13 games played. Grandstrand was named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Year, and was a Second Team All-Ivy goalkeeper. He earned his first collegiate start against then ranked #5 Santa Clara where he picked up six saves in Brown's 2-1 upset over the Broncos during the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic. He received Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors three times (10/8, 10/15, 10/29).
