New York, NY - The 15th ranked Brown men's soccer team opened its Ivy League season with a 1-0 overtime win at Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 4. Senior Adom Crew (Columbia, MD) recorded the game-winning goal 52 seconds into the second overtime period to give Brown its fifth win of the season. The Bears are now 5-3 overall while Columbia falls to 4-3.
Columbia out-shot Brown 18-6 in the game but shots on goal proved to be the key with the Bears posting four to the Lions three. The two teams played through 100 minutes of scoreless action on a rain soaked Baker Field.
Just 52 second into the second overtime, sophomore Ibrahim Diane (Potomac, MD) drove the ball up the right wing and crossed it inside where it was deflected by freshman Andrew Daniels (Milwaukee, WI). Crew was able to maintain possession for the Bears and knock his team-leading fourth goal of the season past Lion's goalie Dean Arnaoutakis from the low post. Three of Crew's four goals this season have been game-winners. Daniels is now tied for the team lead in assists with three.
Brown will continue action next Saturday at home versus Princeton at 4:00 p.m.
