Men’s Soccer Plays Yale to Scoreless Draw

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Joey Cipicchio (Columbus, Ohio) made five saves as the Brown men's soccer team played Yale to a scoreless draw in Saturday night's Ivy League match at Reese Stadium.

Brown moves to 8-5-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the Ivies. Yale drops to 5-8-2, 1-3-2.

Cipicchio earned his sixth shutout of the season and posted his fourth game with at least five saves. Andrew Bortey also had five stops on the other end for the Bulldogs.

Senior Quinn English (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Yale's Josh Totte traded consecutive shots on goal in the 12th minute, the only shots on target during the opening 45 minutes, as Yale edged Brown in overall attempts, 5-2, in the stanza.

Brown tested Bortey early in the second half with a pair of shots on net by Jack Hagstrom (Middleton, Wis.) and English, but the keeper turned away both bids. Bortley also denied Nico Lozada (Dallas, Texas) in the 86th minute to force extra time. Brow outshot Yale, 11-9, in the second half.

The two teams were even with one shots apiece in each of the overtime periods. Kyle Kenagy gave Yale a late chance in the 109th minute with the final shot of the game, but Cipicchio came up with the timely save to secure the draw.

Yale edged Brown in shots, 16-15. English paced the Bears with four shots. Brown won the battle for corner kicks, 10-8.

Brown will host Dartmouth in the season finale on Saturday, November 11 at 5 PM.
