PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair Patrick Laughlin announced on Thursday that Toby Howell (Bradenton, Fla.) will join the program and attend Brown this fall after transferring from Marquette.
"Toby is a player that we knew well from his time playing with Chargers SC in the USSDA," said Laughlin. "He arrives at Brown with a good amount of NCAA DI experience and we expect him to transition quickly to our team. Toby is an attacking player who is good on the ball and can play both wide and centrally. I am looking forward to him joining us in preseason."
A forward at Marquette, Howell started 16 out of 29 games played over the last two seasons, posting eight points. He appeared in 14 matches as a rookie in 2015, notching a pair of goals and three assists with 30 shots. Howell is a former BIG EAST All-Academic selection.
Prior to Marquette, Howell was a three-sport standout at Saint Stephens Episcopal School in Bradenton, Florida, as he helped the soccer team capture three straight district championships. He served as captain for the Chargers SC Academy U-15/16 teams, where was the leading scorer of the eastern conference and ranked 10th nationally.
