PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Matthew Chow (Vancouver, British Columbia) evened the score in the 83rd minute, but the Brown men's soccer team fell to Penn in overtime, 2-1, in Saturday's Ivy League contest at Rhodes Field.
Penn improves to 5-5-5 on the season, while the Bears drop to 7-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the league.
Dami Omitaomu scored both goals for the Quakers, including the game winner in overtime. Erik Hanson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) stopped four shots in net for the Bears, while Etan Mabourakh registered three saves in the win for the Quakers.
Brown and Penn were scoreless after the opening 45 minutes with three shots apiece. Omitaomu put the Quakers on the board four minutes into the second half with his first goal of the game. Alec Neumann sent a ball to the right of the box where Omitaomu converted the one-timer for the lead.
Penn kept the Bears off the board until 82:52, when Chow battled through a defender and finished with a shot in the top left corner, notching the equalizer with his sixth tally of the season. Brown outshot Penn, 9-6, in the second half.
Omitaomu scored the game winner at 96:39 when he settled the ball at the top left corner of the box and sent a shot past Hanson to secure the victory.
Brown outshot Penn, 12-10. Chow led the Bears with five shots, including three on target.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they host Yale at 7 PM.
