Providence, R.I. – Senior goalkeeper Sam Kernan-Schloss (Arlington, VA) and senior defender Dylan Remick (Inverness, IL) earned first team Capital One Academic All-District honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). As first team selections, both will now be added to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-American consideration.
Kernan-Schloss, a Community Health & Economics concentrator with a 3.80 cumulative grade point average, is earning All-District honors for the second time. The goalkeeper has helped the No. 11 Brown soccer team to a 12-1-2 record with a league-high nine shutouts. His goals against average (0.45) ranks third in the country and first in the Ivy League, and his .863 save percentage ranks fourth in the nation and first in the league. Kernan-Schloss boasts a 21-4-5 career record and has tallied a total of 18.1 shutouts in two seasons.
Remick, a Biology concentrator with a 3.71 GPA has played in integral role for the Bears' defense. A two-time first team All-Ivy selection, he earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Brown Soccer Classic and was the Tournament MVP of the Ocean State Classic. His outstanding defense has helped the Bears earn 10 shutouts this season and allow their opponents to just seven goals. He has started in 13 of 14 games and has seven points on the year with two goals and three assists. Last season, Remick also earned first team All-ECAC honors, and was an All-Northeast Region selection.
The Bears are back in action at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 against the Yale Bulldogs in their final home game of the 2012 season. Brown will honor its seven seniors prior to kick-off.
