Providence, RI- Former Brown men's soccer standout Jeff Larentowicz '05 has been recently invited to the US Men's National Camp starting Jan. 4 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Larentowicz, one of just 24 players on the training camp roster, will prepare for the USA's first match of 2011, a friendly against fellow FIFA World Cup Finalists Chile on Jan. 22. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PT, with broadcast information to be announced at a later date.
Larentowicz plays in the center midfield for the Colorado Rapids and was an integral part of the Rapids run through the MSL Playoffs which culminated with a MLS Championship. This marks his second call up to the National Team, as he was previously called up in January 2010, but had a knee injury that required surgery and was unable to complete camp.
Larentowicz helped Brown University to two Ivy League Championships during his four-year career and combined for seven goals and six assists. He was a two-time Second Team NSCAA All-America selection, and a four-time All-Ivy performer.
