Providence, RI- Sophomore midfielder Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, N.Y.) helped fourteenth-ranked Brown to two victories last week, including a 3-1 win over Hartwick on Tuesday night and a 2-0 Ivy League shutout of Cornell on Saturday. McNamara was instrumental for Brown against the Big Red, scoring both goals and helping guide the Bears to their tenth shutout of the season to earn Ivy League Player of the Week honors.
Playing all 90 minutes of the Cornell game, McNamara tallied seven shots, four of which were on goal. He scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 25th minute of the game when he buried a Taylor Gorman pass in the back of the net. McNamara then added an insurance tally in the 64th minute.
McNamara now has three goals and two assists on the year for eight points. He is the third Brown Bear to earn Ivy League Player of the Week honors this season, joining Paul Grandstrand (Sept. 13) and Eric Robertson (Sept. 20).
