Men’s Soccer Announces 2011 Schedule
Providence, RI- Brown University men's soccer coach Pat Laughlin has recently announced his team's 2011 schedule. A total of 17 games will be played, including seven on Stevenson Field. The Bears finished the 2010 season 12-4-4 overall and ranked 10th in the nation after falling in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to the No. 6 California Bears.

Patrick Laughlin Completes First Year as Brown Men’s Soccer Coach
Providence, RI- Patrick Laughlin completed his first year as Brown University’s head men’s soccer coach as he was hired one year ago on March 16, 2010. This past season, Laughlin guided the Bears to a 12-4-4 overall record, while going undefeated at Stevenson Field with a 9-0-3 record. Brown made its 25th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, as well as its first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2000 with a home victory over Boston College and a 7-6 penalty-kick win in Storrs against UConn. Seven Bears earned All-Ivy recognition, three were Division I NEISL All-Stars, four received All-Northeast Region honors, and one was invited to the MLS Player Combine. Laughlin sat down and reflected on the past season and talked about the upcoming year.

Carson, Calif. – Former Brown soccer standout Jeff Larentowicz and the U.S. Men’s National Team opened 2011 with a 1-1 draw against Chile this afternoon at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Larentowicz, a center midfielder for the Colorado Rapids, started and played the entire game today against Chile.

Cliff Stevenson Receives NSCAA Bill Jeffrey Collegiate Long-Term Service Award
Providence, RI- Former Brown University men’s soccer coach Cliff Stevenson received the Bill Jeffrey Collegiate Long-Term Service Award tonight at the 2011 NSCAA Awards Banquet in Baltimore, Md. The award is named after the former Penn State soccer coach who played a major role in shaping soccer and the NSCAA. Each year, the NSCAA presents this award to a person who has raised intercollegiate soccer to new heights through his or her long-term dedication to the game.

Larentowicz Invited to US Men’s National Team Camp
Providence, RI- Former Brown men’s soccer standout Jeff Larentowicz ’05 has been recently invited to the US Men’s National Camp starting Jan. 4 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Larentowicz, one of just 24 players on the training camp roster, will prepare for the USA’s first match of 2011, a friendly against fellow FIFA World Cup Finalists Chile on Jan. 22. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PT, with broadcast information to be announced at a later date.

Brown Soccer Ranks 10th in Final NSCAA Rankings
Providence, RI – The Brown University men’s soccer team finished the 2010 season 10th overall in the final NSCAA Division I poll. The Bears finished the year with a 12-4-4 overall record, including an undefeated 9-0-3 record at home, and earned its 25th NCAA appearance under the direction of first-year head coach Patrick Laughlin. Brown advanced to the “Sweet 16” of the tournament, which is the farthest the team has gotten in nine years.

Four Bears Earn NSCAA All-Northeast Region Team Honors
Seniors Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) and David Walls (Leeds. England), as well as junior Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) and sophomore Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, NY) were named to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region team the association announced on Thursday. Grandstrand and Rosa received Second Team honors, while Walls and McNamara were named to the Third Team.

Providence, RI- Brown University men’s soccer senior Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) has been invited to participate in the 2010 adidas MLS Player Combine on Jan. 7-11 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Okafor is one of 54 college seniors from 36 Division I schools which were selected by a panel of Division I coaches in conjunction with MLS coaches.

Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Bears Post-Season Run Ends in 2-0 Loss to No. 6 California
Berkeley, Calif - The 2010 Brown University men’s soccer season came to an end in Berkeley this afternoon when No. 6 California defeated Brown 2-0 on Goldman Field during the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bears finished the season with a 12-4-4 overall record and made its 25th appearance in the NCAA tournament, including its fifth in the last six years.

Three Bears Selected to N.E.I.S.L. Division I All-Stars
Providence, RI- Seniors Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ), Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) and David Walls (Leeds, England) have been selected to the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Division I All-Star team. The game will be hosted on Sunday, Nov. 28 at Harvard, but due to the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament third round game, the Bears will be unable to participate. The Brown soccer squad was also a recipient of the Division I Men’s Top 10 Team Academic Award, as the team achieved a 3.39 team GPA.

Bears Travel to UConn for Second Round NCAA Tournament Game
Providence, RI- After earning a 2-1 victory over Boston College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, the Brown men’s soccer team will take on Connecticut at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Morrone Stadium. Bears Defeat UConn in Penalty Kicks; Advance to Sweet 16
Storrs, CT- The No. 22-ranked Brown University men's soccer team will advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2010 Division I NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament after defeating the #9 University of Connecticut in penalty kicks, 7-6, at Morrone Stadium. The last time the Bears advanced this far in the tournament was in 2000, when they fell to Connecticut, 1-0, in the quarterfinals.

Brown Downs Boston College 2-1 in NCAA First Round
In the final game of the 2010 season at Stevenson Field in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, No. 14 Brown (12-3-3, 3-3-1 Ivy) took on No. 21 Boston College (10-5-5, 2-2-4 ACC), and even though the two teams had not met in over two years, it proved to be a hotly-contested match. The Bears got a goal early in the game and one late in the first half to take a 2-1 win and move to the Second Round.

Providence, RI- The No. 17 Brown University men’s soccer team played an inspiring second half scoring three goals en route to a 4-1 senior night victory over the visiting Yale Bulldogs on senior night. T.J. Popolizio (Rexford, NY), Evan Coleman (Amherst, MA), Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) and Kevin Gavey (Fairfield, CT) each scored goals to improve the Bears to 11-2-3 overall and move to 3-2-1 in the Ivy League. Providence, RI- Brown University junior Evan Coleman (Amherst, MA) and sophomore Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, NY) have earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District honors. As midfielders, both are making their first appearance on the team, as both nominations will now be forwarded on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The two victories also allowed the Bears to crack into the NSCAA National Rankings for the first time this year, ranking Brown No. 22 overall.

Bears Battle Hofstra to Scoreless Tie; Named Co-Champions of Brown Soccer Classic
Providence, RI- The men's soccer team's from Brown University (2-0-2) and Hofstra University (2-2-1) competed for 110 minutes in the final game of the Brown Soccer Classic, but neither squad could come up with a goal to end in a 0-0 double overtime draw on Sunday afternoon on Stevenson Field. Both Hofstra and Brown went 1-0-1 in the tournament, so the teams were named Co-Champions of the Brown Soccer Classic. Junior Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) was named the Offensive MVP of the tournament, while defender Eric Robertson (San Antonio,. TX), and midfielders Rob Medairos (Stafford, VA) and Evan Coleman (Amherst, MA) earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Rosa's Late Goal Lifts Bears to 1-0 Victory over South Carolina
Providence, RI- Junior forward Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) scored in the 82nd minute of play to lift the Brown men’s soccer team (2-0-1) to a 1-0 victory over the visiting South Carolina Gamecocks during the second game of the Brown Soccer Classic this evening.

Men’s Soccer Hosts Providence College in Ocean State Soccer Classic Championship Game
Providence, RI- After defeating Bryant 4-0 in the first round of the inaugural Ocean State Soccer Classic on Friday, the Brown men’s soccer team (1-0-0) will host Providence College on Stevenson Field in the championship game at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6.

Bears Battle Friars to 0-0 Draw; PC Clinches Ocean State Soccer Classic Title
Providence, RI- The Brown University men's soccer team (1-0-1) and Providence College (1-0-) battled for 120 minutes on Stevenson Field this afternoon, but neither team was able to find the back of the net to end the contest in a 0-0 double overtime draw. However, the Friars earned the Ocean State Soccer Classic title after defeating the Bears in penalty kicks, 5-4. Senior goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN), sophomore Dylan Remick (Inverness, IL), and sophomore Thomas McNamara (West Nyack, NY) earned a spot on the All-Tournament team, while junior forward Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) was named the Offensive MVP.

Providence, RI- The Brown men's soccer game at Bryant University is set for 3:00 p.m. today and is the second game of the Ocean State Classic to be played this weekend. The winner of today's contest will match up against Providence College hosted at Brown on at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, as Rhode Island will match up against today's loser at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Taylor Gorman Scores Two as Bears Cruise to 4-0 Victory over Bryant
Smithfield, RI- Head Men’s Soccer Coach Patrick Laughlin picked up his first win of the 2010 season as the Brown soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory against host Bryant University on Friday afternoon during the Ocean State Classic. Junior Taylor Gorman (Freeport, ME) lit up for two goals this afternoon while senior Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) and junior Sean Rosa (Montreal, QC) tallied one to give Bruno the exciting season-opening win.

Men’s Soccer Opens Season at Bryant in Ocean State Soccer Classic
Providence, RI- The Brown University men's soccer team is set to take on Bryant University in the 2010 season opener on Friday afternoon at Bryant's Sutton Field. The match, which will begin at 3:30 p.m., is the first contest of the inaugural Ocean State Soccer Classic. However, if Hurricane Earl reaches Rhode Island on Friday, there is a possibility of the games being moved to Saturday afternoon. Check out brownbears.com for updates on game day and time changes!

2010 Men's Soccer Preview
Providence, RI- With the return of 20 players from last year’s squad, the Brown University men’s soccer team will look to build on its success from last season and contend for its 20th Ivy League title and make its 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Under the direction of first-year head coach Patrick Laughlin, the Bears will look to senior captains David Walls (Leeds, England) and Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) to guide the returners as well as the team’s six newcomers both on and off the field.

Andrew Biggs Joins Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff
Providence, RI- First-year head men’s soccer coach Patrick Laughlin has announced the addition of Andrew Biggs to his coaching staff. Biggs, a graduate of Middlebury College, was the head coach at the University of New England for four seasons prior to his arrival at Brown.

KINGSTON, R.I. – The men’s soccer head coaches at Brown, Bryant, Providence and Rhode Island have announced the formation of a four-year agreement to participate in the Ocean State Soccer Classic, beginning in the fall of 2010.

Brown Men’s Soccer Announces 2010 Schedule
Providence, RI- Matches against five teams that participated in the 2009 NCAA Tournament and three that were ranked in the final NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Top 25 Poll, highlight the upcoming 2010 season of Brown University men’s soccer. Under the direction of first-year head coach Pat Laughlin, the Bears will host 11 home dates at Stevenson Field, including its annual Brown Classic on Sept. 10-12.
